Grandma and McKayla

Grandma Genny and McKayla came to visit and help out last week. It was so wonderful to have them and we already miss them!

We had a great time trick-or-treating downtown, going to Lamborn Farm pumpkin patch, and carving pumpkins. Here are some photos of our fun day.

Poor Abe

Hospital house

It's been a crazy week around here. Josh had hip surgery on Wednesday. Everything went well and he is hanging in there. There were some tears that didn't show up on the MRI, so those had to be repaired in addition to the bone being shaved down. He is on crutches with no weight bearing for 6 weeks. 2 days down. A million to go.

Abe had tail surgery today. Those of you that know our sweet dog know that he has a CRAZY tail. Well, he split it open during one of his excited moments and it wouldn't heal up because he continued to split it open against doors, walls, cupboards, Brighams, etc. It got infected and was pretty bad and the doctor recommended that we dock it. I wasn't too sad about it because I was pretty sick of wrapping it and cleaning up blood multiple times every day. Before...

Raiders fans

Don't ask me why, but we've got a couple of Raiders fans around here. One big one, and apparently, one little one. I guess it was bound to happen....it just happened sooner than I thought it would.

Do you like it?

It's Autumn time

We have been enjoying some beautiful weather here in the Midwest. Luckily we got to spend some time outside before the current cold front came in. Hopefully we get some more time in warmer weather before the winter weather decides to show up.

Week 2

I learned a valuable lesson about Sundays: It is vital that Brigham take a morning nap before we leave for 1:00 church. No nap = no nursery. He walked proudly into nursery this week, however, there was no chance that he was letting me get out of his sight. So, I sluffed Sunday school and played blocks and pirates, then Brigham came to YW with me. He was just so dang tired and a tired Brigham equals a needy Brigham. We'll try again next week. I also have a secret plan. Josh is going to be the designated nursery deliverer. I think he might have more success than me.

Nursery

That's right. My little boy is 18 months old. I have been waiting for this day of church for a long time. I finally got to attend my last two hours of church AND pay attention in them. Amazing, right?
I dropped off Brigham in the nursery room. He did great. He walked right in, found some toys, and played. As I waited to let the nursery leader know that he was there for the first time, I caught him look up twice, frantically both times, until he realized I was still there. I didn't stick around for the third time, but I didn't hear him holler.
We went to Sunday School and I quite enjoyed it. I was able to listen to the lesson and the Spirit rather than entertaining Brigham. I could hold Josh's hand. I didn't even have to pick up goldfish crumbs, draw monkeys or lions, or chase my escaping child down the hall. It was nice.
We left to attend Priesthood and YW (2nd Counselor, as of today) and had to walk by the nursery room to get to our meetings. As we walked by, anxious to see how he was holding up, I watched my baby sitting up at that nursery table, pleasant as could be - just waiting for his snack. Then and there, in the hall at church, I saw him get on the bus for school, doing homework, graduate, open his mission papers, in college, get married...the works. I had to blink and blink and blink to fight the tears. My sweet little boy. All grown up and in nursery. How time flies.

How blessed I am to be Brigham's mama. And for this brief and tender moment I am still his favorite person.

Stay tuned to see if I'm the only one to cry again next week...

Just playin'

Here are some pictures of Brig having a good time on the dog bed. He was just being cute...and sometimes I can't resist.

Who am I kidding? I can never resist this kid.

Guess who likes Oreos?

I do. So does Josh. As it turns out, so does our offspring.

Binky problem?

Is this when you know your 18 month old has an addiction?
