I love a man in uniform...

Especially this one!

Josh learned how to drive this hog last weekend.

And is this happy about his new Humvee license...

jrc halloween

We were not as succesful as in years past, but this oven and bunmaker still had a fun time at our annual halloween party. We're not going to go next year though. No way - not if we don't win anything. :) We'll have to find a new party to get invited to next year, since we won't qualify as law students anymore.

Live-action donut eating...

Josh, proving that his donut was completely gone, only seconds too late.

Not even our big mouths could win at Chubby Bunny.

lesson learned

So have you ever had a smell on your clothes that you wish wasn't there? Particularly the food smell that lingers in your clothes and you are stuck with for the rest of the day? Well, I noticed on the way to church yesterday that I had the unwanted stench of roast beef. I love my roast beef. More than many things, in fact. But I didn't want to smell like it for the rest of the day. Even worse, I noticed after I was already on my way (and for those of you that know, I live way too far away from church to just turn around) that I hadn't spritzed any smell-good on me. So my scent for the day: roast beef. Just roast beef. Not Japanese Beef Blossom, not Roast Vanilla Sugar. Just beef. Maybe some onions.

My solution: The scented trees that are so delicious to the nose and just dangling a dare in front of my eyes. A little rub of the tree here and there and wahlah!(I've never written that word before. Interesting.) No more roast beef scent. I smelled like coconut and peachy peach. Wonderful.

My suggestion: If you ever leave the house and have no other choice of a stale-stinky-clothes-scent-changer, if you rely on your little hanging trees, rub them only on your skin. Or maybe on your dark clothes. Certainly don't rub them on a white shirt. It will turn orange (peachy peach or coconut) or yellow (vanilla) or green (pine), etc. You get it. I would do it again though. Even on my white shirt - there's nothing quite as bad as smelling like your cooking dinner.

Spontaneous

I got a little taste of some of the joy that I'm going to experience as a mother this weekend. I watched the cutest big little boy singing and dancing around the house because he just bought playoff Dodger tickets. He woke up the next morning and reminded me that we were going to the Dodger game. For two days, Josh had a perma-grin and his eyes just sparkled with anticipation.

We woke up on Saturday and started our trek to St. Louis with our Dodger gear in tow. We found out the the drive to St. Lou isn't that far away...only about 4 hours from here. Once we got there, we found our hotel without too much trouble and got checked in after only receiving a little grief for the logos we were sporting.

An old favorite of mine was calling my name for dinner, so we walked to the Spaghetti Factory to enjoy some salad with creamy pesto dressing, bread with garlic butter, pasta of choice, and some spumoni to top it off. I even got a high five with a "Good luck Dodgers, I'm a Cubs fan!" on my way to the bathroom.

We walked through River Front Park (one of my favorite things about St. Louis is that all of the tourist attractions are centrally located - so we just parked our car safely in the hotel garage and walked our little selves around town), took some pictures of the arch, and made our way to Busch Stadium for the game.

We realized when we got there, that we were two small blue fish swimming in a big RED sea! There were not many of our kind there, we were definitely the minority. We only got a few "Boos!" and "Dodgers suck!" on the way to our seats, where we were happy to find out that we were on a row of mostly blue! There were a few Cardinals fans mixed into Section 132, row 29...but most of us were very happy with the game and most certainly the final outcome! I was glad that they won the series last night so I didn't have to talk Josh into remaining strong and not attending game 4 today.

After the game, we enjoyed a night in the big city. Josh had a 'romantic' evening in the hot tub with 4 rowdy little kids staying at the hotel and my pregnant feet. Then we found out that pizza places in St. Louis make delicious pizza and strawberry cheesecake and deliver until 3 in the morning (11 would have been late enough, but it was good news still)!
We attended an awesome testimony meeting today at a small, diverse ward. Then made our trek back home. We had a great trip and will be excited to go back to St. Louis someday.

Race day

I am glad that there was a race at the Kansas Speedway today. Not so much because Josh got to get a picture taken with the Hamburger Helper guy, although that is really great, but because Scott and Charlee flew in to spend the weekend with us. It has already gone by too fast, but has been so fun to have some visitors. Charlee went to volleyball with me while Josh and Scott went to the race. Josh explained the environment there as "the Quidditch World Cup and the State Fair". Here are some pictures of their exciting day.

League Champions!

The 7th grade volleyball team won the league championship today. They had an undefeated season and an undefeated tournament today! They are such cute girls and we had a fun day of winning.
