Happy Thanksgiving

We had a scrumptious Thanksgiving dinner with my sister Janalyn and her family. It was great to have family here for the holiday, and nice to have some people to cook for.

It's always humorous to me how long the prep takes for such a big meal, it's over in a matter of minutes, then the cleanup begins. Why do we put ourselves through such strange traditions? We did make a (very welcomed) change in the main course. Our house served ribs instead of turkey. It's a guarantee to happen next year, too.

the power of an iphone

Grandpa Mikkelsen was on his way through town last week. He stopped for a brief (but wonderful) visit. It's always great to see a face from home (especially one that we love so much)!


Briggs hasn't wanted much to do with Grandpa before, but he (Brigham) wanted to show him (Grandpa) all of his games on my iphone. As you can see, it helped break the ice.

As you may recall, Josh had hip surgery a month ago. He got three weeks off of work to stay home with Brigham and me. It was a really great time for these two to bond. They became really good buddies with Josh home all the time.

Sweet Briggs has been sick the past couple of days. He can't hold much down and when he isn't puking he is sleeping. It is pretty heart-wrenching because he feels miserable and doesn't understand why. Try explaining to a one year old why he can't drink when he is thirsty or eat when he is hungry. Hopefully it will pass soon.

Brigham is so delightful. He is so fun and almost always happy and easy going. Here are a couple of fun pictures of my favorite little boy.

LT. Mikkelsen

Here's our little LT on Halloween. I'm counting on Halloween to be more fun in the future, as this one was kind of a let down (only for me, Brigham and Josh didn't care). Nobody wanted to see Brig's costume, only 3 trick or treaters came, Josh was stuck on the couch, etc. I got some super cute pictures of Brigham in his costume though.
