Munich

We had another adventure in Munich on our way home from Garmisch.  We stopped and hit the highlights:

The Glockenspiel on the Marienplatz

 Some statue, also on the Marienplatz.

 This is St. Peter's Cathedral.  It is very ornate inside, like most of them are.

 It also houses very old bones as relics.  This is a full skeleton.

 And this is a skull and some other bones.  Supposedly this woman was beheaded for being a Christian.  Her bones were given as a gift from Rome to Munich a couple hundred years ago.

 This little sweetheart climbed right up and zonked out.  Touring is tiring.

Josh went to the Residenz Museum and Treasury while the rest of us went on a walk to see some other things.  He said it was the highlight of Munich and that it is definitely worth seeing.  He compared it to Versailles, without the crowds.  

 He came back to find his son looking like this:

 The next day, we dropped Maddie and Jordan off at Dachau (been there, didn't want to go back) and we went back to Munich to hang out.  We found a really big pretzel and had to get it.  Too bad the boys weren't in their lederhosen for these pictures.  People thought they were really cute anyway - many others stopped next to me to take pictures with me!

Edelweiss and Lake Eibsee

Here is a shot of our hotel, the military lodge and resort in Garmisch.  Josh's conference was there, and it worked out for us to get a bigger room so we could all fit and stay together.  

 We spent the afternoon at Lake Eibsee.  It was beautiful, but chilly.

 Not too chilly for this lady, who was in her bikini in the water.  The water didn't feel super cold, but the temperature was only 60 or so that day, so she's got more hair on her chest than I do.  Maybe not, I didn't see her very close up.

 We found some sort of den...everyone liked looking at it, but I was afraid some animal would come out and eat us.

 Josh took a whole bunch of pictures like this one, because he thought it was so cute that Brigham's little crack was showing.

 We skipped rocks,

 threw rocks,

 jumped and posed,

 tried out the water (with my two jackets on...not my bikini),

 walked,

 found the aptly named Col. Mustard,

 found the glacier on the mountain,

 and just enjoyed our day together.

 What a beautiful part of the world.
