The Zugspitze

We had high hopes of visiting the Zugspitze while we were staying in Garmisch, but the high cost and the many clouds made for a bad combination.  We knew it wouldn't be worth our money to head to the top of a peak that was in the clouds.  

This is a view of the mountains from our room.  There were only a couple of times we actually saw it clear like this.  

 Me and the boys in the tram on our way up to the AlpspiX, a viewing platform that is at the base of the Alpspitze, the high peak you can see above.

 It was a beautiful ride up.

 But it got cloudy fast!

 The board shows what the view is like on a clear day.  Beautiful, huh?  I assume so.

 Catching some rays...

 There was one brief minute that the clouds cleared, so we ran up to the platform to see what we could.

 It was pretty crazy walking out and watching the mountain drop.

 The clouds quickly came back.

 We were headed up to the other platform when Brigham learned a valuable lesson about walking with his hands in his hoody pocket.

 There was another tram that took us to another viewing area a bit lower.  We hiked from there to our last tram, which took us back down.

 I even found a friend up there.  See him?

What a beautiful world we get to live in.
